Show Cards and Update
Thank you to all who replied to my messages about my Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition show cards. If I had accidently missed sending one to you or you would like one (if there are any left after the show) please email me ASAP.
As far as the show goes, I recently moved all my supplies and work back to my house and am storing the majority of it in my room. (We have to empty our studios since the space is used for exhibiting.) It was a wonder how I packed all of it in an assortment of trashed cardboard boxes. Let's just say that I did a pretty good job considering my room is TINY. So my bedroom is now my studio. It's not that bad, but I figure that if there were more than one person in the room, only one of us can move at a time. Hahaha!
Bedroom / storage space / studio.
For the work itself, the major glass pieces are pretty much all finished, but I need to lampwork some more small components. I would like to say that things are going smoothly, but I have been very stressed out because of the woodwork. My woodworking skills are sadly minimal—I only know how to use a jig cutter and a sander :(, so I have to rely on others to help me, and since everyone is busy with their own work, it's painful not to get help. However, I am getting help from Alex and last week, he and Joe built three pedestals that I designed. WEE!! They totally rock! So now I have to work out the platforms for my sets/dioramas, whatever you call them.
And yesterday was a complete hell on wheels night/morning in neon. I have yet to finish this massive 4 feet sign that will be exhibited as a part of my BFA thesis and at the Outdoor Light Exhibit (also on May 5th). So from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. I was bending all these tubes and my seals kept breaking or having leaks in them. It was completely frustrating and I just wanted to bawl, but I figured that getting really upset would set me back too many hours. Hahaha! :) So the sign is ALMOST done and my blow partner Lee and I will assemble tomorrow night.
So photos will surely be up after the shows!!
I'm looking forward to seeing some of you!!
