Corning's Public Buses
I had today off from work and finally went back to the Arnot Mall to return some clothing that I had bought for Alex awhile back. (Too small. I don't know, he's really skinny.) Previous to mall-a-going, I went to check out a potential new apartment and it was a DUMP. The landlady was cleaning out the junk and garbage that the previous tenants left. When I arrived, the place smelled as if the garbage was not thrown out in a month and then occupied by a bunch of squatters. (There was even dried dog poop on the floor.) I don't understand how people can rent an apartment, trash it, and then have to face the property owners, who most of the time don't even care. (Wait, that was like the house I lived in Alfred.) Anyways.
Back to the subject—PUBLIC BUSES. I don't mind the public bus because that's how I get to far places I can't walk to. (Ha, go ahead, laugh.) It's cheap ($1 one way), I'm used to public transportation (NYC MTA), and I believe mass transit is the way to go to reduce traffic/pollution/gas usage.
HOWEVER, the one thing that I REALLY don't like are the men who try to talk to me on or off the bus. The past two times I've taken the bus, I've had some random guy tell me their name, ask if I'm sticking around in Corning, and proceed to give me their info. This makes me not want to take the bus anymore. I NEVER make eye contact with anyone on the bus (except for the driver, who is always friendly.)
End of complaints. So I have to wonder how really attractive girls/women feel or think when this stuff happens to them everyday—Do they get sick of it? Does it just become "normal"? Are they often times flattered or repulsed? I think the bus thing happens because we are all stuck on the bus and there is no where to walk away. I think this is why I don't like to make public eye contact.
One more thing. I really this this video:

There's a reason a shit ton of girls in NY always have headphones on, like the intern at the L - so they can zone out those people.
